This week we received the sad news that Ger Luijten suddenly passed away during a visit to the Netherlands.
Ger's involvement with Hollstein dates back to 1984, when he made his debut as co-compiler of volume XXIX of Hollstein's Dutch & Flemish Etchings, Engravings and Woodcuts ca. 1450-1700. In the period 1984 to 1989, Ger remains compiler for this series, in which period another five Hollstein volumes compiled by him appear.
He continued his career as a curator at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rijksmuseum and director of the Fondation Custodia. Even in these busy years, Ger has always remained involved in the Hollstein project in his role as editor of the various Hollstein projects, but also as a member of the editorial board of our series Studies in Prints and Printmaking. He played an important role in the further development of Hollstein and Sound & Vision Publishers.
The news of his passing away came to us as a great shock. We wish his loved ones a lot of strength in coping with this loss.
